In this video I review the Lewitt RAY, the first ever condenser microphone with autofocus.
The RAY features what Lewitt calls their AURA sensor. It senses how far away from the microphone you are and automatically adjusts the microphone volume in real time. This gives you more consistent sounding, and higher quality raw recordings.
If you think that sounds good in theory, wait until you hear it in action, because it works even better than I had hoped.
I think the the AURA technology makes the Lewitt RAY one of the most game-changing pieces of audio gear I've seen in my lifetime.
It's so versatile, I strongly believe it's one of the best condenser microphones for streamers, podcasters, singers and other vocalists, audiobook narrators, and voice artists.
The AURA sensors also enable the new "Mute By Distance" functionality, in which the microphone will automatically mute itself once you move outside a specified range.
Even with AURA turned off, the Lewitt RAY sounds fantastic as a traditional condenser microphone, just like all their other mics.
