In this video I review the DigitalFoto Chameleon RGB tube lights, which are currently the best budget option for LED lights in this form factor. I also walk you through my lighting setup for a high contrast "sports-style" portrait using the Chameleon RGB tube lights in place of the more traditional studio strobe and strip box setup.
These lights are insanely versatile, and are arguably the best RGB tube lights for video and photography at an affordable price. On top of that, they alleviate many of the issues with using COB LED lights and bowens mount modifiers. They have built in battery power, produce soft light without any modifiers, and are extremely portable.
RGB tube lights are also one of the best ways to evenly light a backdrop, or just flood a room with light or color. When you're working in small spaces, it's hard to beat a light that is only a few inches in diameter.
Like any other light, the Chameleon tube lights have some minor annoyances, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons in this case.
